Cal Lutheran Rings the Bell with Associate AD Hire

Cal Lutheran has named Katie Bell as Associate Athletic Director / Senior Woman Administrator, joining the Purple & Gold ahead of the upcoming fall season.

"Katie's experience, personality, and work ethic clearly made her the best fit for Regals and Kingsmen Athletics," said Director of Athletics Howard Davis. "I know our coaching staff and student-athletes will be as thrilled to work with Katie as I am."

Bell returns to California after spending the past three years at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, a fellow NCAA Division III institution in the Skyline Conference. While at St. Joseph's, Bell served as Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student-Athlete Services and Senior Woman Administrator. In that role, she provided oversight of the department's compliance with NCAA and Skyline Conference regulations and served as a sport administrator for several programs. She also advised the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and supported the life skills and developmental needs of the Bears' student-athletes.

"I am truly honored and excited to join the Cal Lutheran community and begin working with these outstanding student-athletes, coaches, and staff members," Bell commented. "Cal Lutheran's student-athletes have positioned themselves as some of the best in the SCIAC, both in sport and in the classroom."

Prior to her time in Brooklyn, Bell worked at her alma mater and fellow SCIAC institution, Chapman University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Strategic and Corporate Communication in 2017 and a master's in Leadership Development in 2022. She spent two and a half years as an Administrative Supervisor within athletics, following nearly three years as the Recreation Sports Manager and Sports Information Assistant.

"Her SCIAC connections–as a former student athlete and employee at Chapman–will ease the transition to CLU, and Katie has great experience in all facets of a Division III intercollegiate athletics program," Davis remarked. "She will be able to hit the ground running from day one at Cal Lutheran."

While at Chapman, Bell competed on the women's soccer team, earning All-SCIAC Second Team in 2013 and the SCIAC All-Academic Team in 2015. She scored five career goals and added eight assists for the Panthers.

"Everyone who has worked with or around Katie holds her in the highest regard. She has a reputation as a tireless worker and supporter of student-athletes," continued Davis. "Katie understands the mission of CLU Athletics."

"I would like to thank Dr. Howard Davis and the entire athletics team for giving me this incredible opportunity," stated Bell. "I look forward to supporting our student-athletes in their growth as Regals and Kingsmen."
