THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The Kingsmen wrapped up the 2025 season with a heartbreaking loss in Game 1 of the SCIAC Tournament against the Redlands Bulldogs, 5-3.
Cal Lutheran's pitching staff allowed just three earned runs throughout the game, which all came in the first inning.
Joshua Kim started the game on the mound for the Kingsmen, followed by
Oscar Lopez and
Daniel Orozco. Lopez and Orozco both did not allow a hit during their outings.
At the plate,
Lucas Danielewicz went 2/4 and was backed up by
Wyatt Crosby and
Carlos Vega. Vega and Crosby went 2/4 and 2/3, respectively, and both recorded an RBI.
The Bulldogs put up three runs straight out of the gate for an early 3-0 lead. The Kingsmen responded in the bottom of the second inning with two crucial runs. Vega dropped a single into left field that allowed Crosby to touch home uncontested.
Jona Dawson came through later in the inning with a laced single through the left side of the infield to drive in
Noah Matsumoto.
Danielewicz touched home for the tying run in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly from Crosby. Cal Lutheran and Redlands were in a stalemate at 3-3 until the sixth inning. With the bases loaded, an error from the Kingsmen defense allowed two Bulldogs to come around and score. Cal Lutheran was unable to convert at the end of the game as it fell, 5-3.
The Purple and Gold finish the season 27-14.
