Four Regals Garner All-SCIAC Honors

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Cal Lutheran softball was represented by four Regals in this season's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) awards, announced last week. Ashlyn Flinchum and Danielle Diaz were named to the First Team, while Jessica Waters and Olivia Vargas earned Second Team honors.

Flinchum, a senior pitcher from Ventura, California, closed out a stellar career with her second consecutive All-SCIAC nod, following her reign as the 2024 SCIAC Pitcher of the Year. In 2025, she continued to dominate in the circle, finishing with a 7-6 record and two saves over 106.2 innings pitched. She allowed just 33 earned runs, struck out 90 batters, and recorded 10 complete games, including two shutouts.

Highlights of her season include a nine-inning win over CMS, a 10-strikeout performance against George Fox, and a one-hit gem at Chapman. She also posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Flinchum ranked second in the SCIAC in ERA and strikeouts, trailing only this season's Pitcher of the Year.

Diaz, a sophomore from North Hills, California, broke out in a big way to earn her first career all-conference selection. The designated player led the SCIAC with a .464 batting average and was second in OPS, doubles, on-base percentage, and sacrifice flies.

In 84 at-bats, she collected 39 hits, 24 RBIs, 11 doubles, and nine walks while striking out only six times. Her season highlights include three hits, two doubles, and two triples in the series against Whittier, along with a homerun and four RBIs against Susquehanna. Diaz led the Regals in batting average, hits, doubles, and triples, and ranked top two in nearly every other offensive category.

Waters, a sophomore from Spokane, Washington, earned her second straight All-SCIAC Second Team honor after another power-packed season. She led the Regals with 10 home runs, 34 RBIs, and a 1.350 OPS, while batting .383. Waters also drew a team-best 25 walks and slugged .827, which is second-best in the SCIAC.

Defensively, Waters was a staple at first base, posting a .980 fielding percentage with 197 putouts. She ranked among the SCIAC's top five in on-base percentage and slugging percentage and was the conference leader in OPS.

Vargas, a senior third baseman native to Fillmore, California, earned her second career All-SCIAC honor after landing on the First Team in 2023. In 2025, she batted .349 with 37 hits, 19 RBIs, and seven doubles across 106 at-bats, while striking out just four times, which is the fewest among all Cal Lutheran starters.

Vargas led the Regals in at-bats and ranked second on the team in runs, hits, and doubles. She also reached the 100-hit career milestone this season. Defensively, she anchored the hot corner with a .987 fielding percentage, recording just one error and 50 assists.
