LOS ANGELES, Calif. –
Josie Oparanaku and four other Regals netted goals as Cal Lutheran dropped a tough one 19-7 against Occidental on Friday night.
Despite the loss, the Regals (5-5, 1-4) would lock down reigning SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week Olivia Okamoto, who recorded just one assist.
Occidental (6-3, 3-3) struck first, scoring the first four goals of the game. The Regals would outscore the Tigers 3-2 to close out the first period, sending it to the second with a score of 6-3.
Miya Avila would net a goal with under a minute and a half to go in the first, continuing her breakout second year with the program.
Occidental would rip off seven unanswered goals in the second period to go into the half up 10.
Oxy would get the scoring started before a
Malina Diaz goal would cut the lead back to 10. The Tigers would tack on a pair of goals to close out the third period.
The Regals would match the Tigers 3-3 in the fourth behind a pair of goals from Oparanaku.
The Regals will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2 against Chapman in William Rolland Stadium.
