PASADENA, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's basketball ended the regular season in the win column, defeating Caltech 73-55 on Saturday afternoon.
The Regals (19-6, 11-5) would come out blazing, scoring 12 of the game's first 15 points.
It was a dominant first quarter for the Regals, who would enter the second up 14. The Beavers (9-13, 5-11) would match 12-12 in the second to keep the deficit at 14 going into half.
Caltech would cut the lead to seven coming out of the break, but big shots from Alline Ballard and Sara Mills would re-extend the lead, providing a cushion the Regals would ride all the way to their 19th win of the year.
Ballard recorded her 14th double-double of the season, good for 13th in the nation.
The win marked the Regals' first of 15+ in a month, and it is their second time doing so against Caltech this season.
The Regals finish the year first in the conference in scoring and rebounds and hold the second-highest average margin of victory.
The Regals end the season with a record of 19-6, going 11-5 in SCIAC play. They would go 12-1 in Gilbert Arena, winning their last 10 there.
The SCIAC tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, Feb. 26, as the Regals will await results of the rest of the conference to determine seeding and matchup.
