LISLE, Ill. – Cal Lutheran men's volleyball completed its third reverse sweep and fifth five-set match of the season tonight, defeating the Benedictine Eagles 27-29, 23-25, 26-24, 25-21, 15-8.
Michael Stahl led the Kingsmen with a 25-kill, 12-dig double-double. Tonight marks his fourth so far this year as he achieved season-highs in kills, points, digs, and total blocks.
Ben Weber followed with 12 kills and 10 digs for his first double-double of 2025, in addition to his three assists and three blocks.
The Kingsmen out-hit the Eagles .280 to .217, however, it was the defense and the ratio of errors that proved to be the difference. Led by
Matthew Wilcox, the Purple and Gold recorded a season-high 16 blocks over Benedictine's 13, and committed 10 less errors than the Eagles.
Cal Lutheran (8-1) stayed competitive throughout the entire match, just barely falling behind in the first two sets. The team was able to battle back and crank out a win in an exhaustingly familiar five-set fashion.
Next up, Kingsmen continue their road stand with a doubleheader, taking on North Central and Nazareth on February 1 at 11 AM and 3 PM PT.
