Regals Explode for Six Goals in Blowout Win Over Concordia Texas

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Cal Lutheran women's soccer beat the triple-digit heat while recording its highest single-game goal total since the 2021 season, as five Regals found the back of the net in a 6-1 blowout win over Concordia University.

Neveah Rascon scored twice while Hana Sawan, Savana Durr, Olivia Suarez, and Taylor Holt all had goals in the match.

In the 18th minute, Elena Baltazar dribbled shorthanded through the Tornadoes' defense and drew a penalty kick that Sawan buried for the contest's first goal. Baltazar was a strong contributor off the bench, as she tallied an assist and a shot on goal.

The Tornados (1-3) tied it up at 1-1 in the 26th minute, but the Regals retook the lead before halftime thanks to Rascon, who capped off a long offensive possession with her first of two goals in the match.

In the second half, the Regals (2-0-1) outscored the Tornados 4-0 to pull away with a decisive victory.

Durr got the party started in the 62nd minute with an incredible header goal set up by a header pass by Baltazar off of a corner kick.

In the 70th minute, Suarez took her defender one-on-one and scored with her right foot. It was a great moment for the junior, as she scored her second goal of her collegiate career and first since 2022 after missing the 2023 season due to injury.

A Tornados own goal in the 74th minute made it 5-1, and Rascon put the finishing touches on a dominant performance with her second goal of the game in the 82nd minute.

Shots were 29-4 in favor of the Regals. Kira Kasarda was in goal for the Regals and made 3 saves in the win.

The Regals will travel to Oregon for their first road games of the season. They take on Linfield University on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
