Suarez, Regals Down Chapman 1-0 for Fifth-Straight Shutout

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Olivia Suarez (2) netted the only goal of the match to lead Cal Lutheran women's soccer to a 1-0 win against Chapman on Wednesday evening.

The Regals (5-0-3) have now kept opponents off the scoreboard in four straight games while allowing just two goals in seven games this season.

After a scoreless first half, Suarez one-timed a shot and found the back of the net to complete a beautiful attack in Panthers' territory. In the 66th minute, Ashley Escamilla created the opportunity, dribbling through Panthers defenders to find Chloe Smith. With space, Smith laid a perfect cross to Suarez, who tucked it to the bottom left corner for the eventual game-winner.

The Panthers (4-5, 1-1 SCIAC) spent the remainder of the match in attack mode, attempting to find the equalizer but Avery West, Savana Durr, Brynn McMahon, and Tessa French led a strong back end to keep them off the scoreboard. Kira Kasarda was in goal for the Regals and made three saves in the shutout.

The Regals look to push their undefeated streak to 15 games, dating back to last season. Next, they travel on the road to take on Occidental next Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.
