THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's water polo celebrated Senior Day on Saturday and defeated the Caltech Beavers 17-9.
Before the game, the Regals honored Izzy De Souza, Jacsen Donohue, Katie Knight, and Abby Lanier. The Regals won their fourth game in a row and improved to 5-4 in SCIAC and 9-16 overall. The Regals are tied with La Verne for fourth in conference play with three games to go.
The seniors led the attack as Donohue and Knight both scored four goals. Donohue also dished out three assists and Knight had three drawn exclusions. Bethany Metcalfe was also big on the defensive end and had three goals and four assists. Lanier contributed with two goals and one assist while Miranda Miller matched her and Lauren Lohmeier added one of each.
On the defensive end, Sophie Raquel was in goal and got the win. She made nine saves and the Regals had 12 steals. Raquel, Miller, and Reyna Clark had two steals each.
The Regals came out on fire and were up 7-2 after the first quarter. The Beavers matched the Regals with three goals in the second quarter as Cal Lutheran led 10-5 at the half. The Regals outscored the Beavers 3-2 in the third and 4-2 in the fourth as they took the game.
The Regals have one final home game during the regular season. They host Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday at 4 pm.
