CLAREMONT, Calif. — Jessica Waters hit a three-run homer, Ashlyn Flinchum pitched a complete game and Cal Lutheran softball won game three of the series against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 8-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Flinchum improved to 6-2 on the year and pitched her seventh complete game. Waters hit her team-leading third home run as the Regals are now 5-3 in SCIAC and 8-10 overall.

GAME ONE – Regals 0, Athenas 5
CMS controlled game one of the doubleheader as the Athenas' pitchers allowed just two hits. Nadia Collins and Brooke DeSmet both recorded a hit.

In the circle, Casey Edwards got the start and went just 2.0 innings, giving up five hits and three earned runs as she took the loss. Ally Forbell came in for the final 4.0 innings. Forbell gave up seven hits and two earned runs.

GAME TWO – Regals 8, Athenas 1
Flinchum was back in the circle and continued to dominate the Athenas as she did on Friday. She had 15 strikeouts in the first game of the series.

The Regals scored first as DeSmet tripled to center, scoring Collins. The Athenas tied the game in the fourth as the Regals broke the tie in the sixth. Abby Strong and Ahlyssa Guzman both had a RBI and Waters and Strong scored the runs. The Regals put the final touches on the game as Waters hit a three-run homer in the seventh. Nadia Collins then added a RBI double and Mia Antonino scored on an error.
