CHINO HILLS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's and women's golf finished fifth at the 2024 SCIAC Championships. The Kingsmen were 25-over-par while the Regals were 68-over-par.
The teams competed at Los Serranos Country Club with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps as the host. They played 18 holes on Sunday through Tuesday and Par for each round was 72.
The Kingsmen were under 300 every round. They fired a 295 in round two and a 297 in the first and third for 889 strokes. The Regals improved each day. They shot 316 in the first, 313 in the third, and 303 in the third for 932 strokes.
Anna Poulin and Jot Singh led their teams and finished tied for ninth. Poulin lowered her round score every day. She shot a 77 in the first, 73 in the second, and a 72 in the third. She finished 6-over-par with 222 strokes. Singh matched Poullin's stats to lead the Kingsmen. He recorded a 74 in the first, 72 in the second, and a 76 in the sixth.
Three more Kingsmen finished in the top 10. Tanner Stewart tied for the 12th at 8-over-par. He shot 224 strokes with a 74 in the first, 77 in the second, and a 73 in the third. Adam Cartozian and Hudson Solters were one stroke back at 225 and tied for 16th with 9-over-par. Cartozian carded a 76-76-73 while Solters had 76-74-75. JP Guimaraes Jr. was just one stroke behind them and tied for 21st with 73-73-80-226.
The next Regal to finish was Maya dela Rama. She tied for 20th with 19-over-par. She improved each round with an 80 in the first, 79 in the second, and 76 in the third. Ashley Zook was next and tied for 22nd at 21-over-par. She recorded an 80, 79, and 78 for 237 strokes. Brooke Alderson and Kaylie Hesse also competed for the Regals. Alderson was 24th at 22-over-par with a score of 79-82-77-238 and Hesse was 30th at 31-over-par with 83-85-79-247.
The Kingsmen and Regals await an NCAA Committee's decision about postseason play.
