CLAREMONT, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's water polo finished their 2024 campaign in the SCIAC Tournament as the Regals fell to the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens 14-8 on Friday night.
The Regals have been in the SCIAC Tournament every year and made some noise at the end of the season, going 6-1 over the final seven games, and clinching their berth in the SCIAC Tournament.
Katie Knight led the way with four goals while Jacsen Donohue had two and Miranda Miller and Megan Findley had one each. Miller was dominant on the offensive end with four drawn exclusions and Donohue and Knight had two each.
Sophie Raquel was in the cage and recorded eight saves and seven steals. Miller was next with three steals and Donohue added two.
The Regals battled and were down just 2-1 at the end of the first quarter. The Sagehens picked things up in the second quarter, outscoring the Regals 7-1, and had a 9-2 lead at the half. The Regals outscored the Sagehens in the second half, but the Sagehens took the contest and advanced to the SCIAC Tournament Championship game.
The Regals had an overall record of 11-18 in 2024. They went 7-5 in the conference as they fought and won the fourth and final spot in the tournament.
