KERRVILLE, Texas — Cal Lutheran women's golf won the Schreiner Shoot-Out, and the men's team took third, at Comanche Trace on Tuesday afternoon.
The Regals were the champions at 54-over-par. They fired a tournament-low 311 on day one and followed it up with a 319 on day two for a total of 630 strokes. The Kingsmen moved up two spots on day two and finished at 24-over-par. They shot a 306 on day one and fired a 294 on day two for 600 strokes.
Maya dela Rama and Anna Poulin led the Regals as the duo tied for third at 11-over-par with 155 strokes. de la Rama carded an even 72 over the first 18 holes but shot an 83 on the second 18. Poulin stayed consistent with a 78 in the first round and a 77 in the second.
Ashley Zook made it three Regals in the top 10 and Brooke Alderson made it four in the top 15. Zook placed seventh at 14-over-par with 158 strokes. She shot an 80 in the first round and improved with a 78 in the second. Alderson tied for 12th at 18-over-par. She stayed consistent with an 81 in both rounds. Kaylie Hesse (84-87-151) rounded out the team score and Victoria Ruiz (87-84-171) competed as an individual as they tied for 25th. The duo finished at 27-over-par.
Adam Cartozian tied for third to lead the Kingsmen. He was Even at the tournament as he fired a 1-under-par 71 over the first round and a 73 over the second for 144 strokes. Tanner Stewart competed as an individual and made it two Kingsmen in the top 10 as he tied for eighth at 5-over-par. He carded a 74 over the first 18 and a 75 over the second for 149 strokes.
Jot Singh was just outside the top 10 as he tied for 11th at 7-over-par. He shot a 76 in the first round and a 75 in the second for 151 strokes. Blake Fitzhugh, Hudson Solters, JP Guimaraes Jr. rounded out the team score. Fitzhugh was 21st at 9-over-par (82-71-153), Solters tied for 22nd (79-75-154), and Guimaraes Jr. tied for 26th (80-76-156).
The teams return home to host their CLU Invitationals for their next competition. Both tournaments are set for March 11 and 12.
