COSTA MESA, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran men's and women's golf teams both competed at SCIAC #1 which was held on Saturday and Sunday.
The Kingsmen tied for third at 8-under-par. The team shot 284 in each round and totaled 568 strokes setting the program record for 36 hole tournament. The Regals placed fifth at 52-over-par. They carded a 313 in the first round and a 307 in the second for 620 strokes.
The teams played at the Loa Lagos course at Costa Mesa Golf Course. They played 18 holes daily with the men having a Par of 72 and the women 71.
Jot Singh had the lowest score for the Kingsmen and tied for fifth at 5-under-par. She shot a 2-under par in the first round and improved with a 69 to finish with 139 strokes. Hudson Solters and Adam Cartozian made it three Kingsmen in the top 10. Solters was 4-under-par and shot a 71 and 69 for 140 strokes. Cartozian was next and tied for 10th at 3-under-par with 70-71-141.
JP Guimaraes Jr. and Nick Huffman also competed for the Kingsmen. Guimaraes Jr. was 29th at 4-over-par with 73-75-148 and Huffman tied for 35th at 11-over-par with 77-78-155.
Anna Poulin led the way for the Regals and finished 10th at 6-over-par. She shot a 3-over-par 74 in both rounds and finished with 148 strokes. Brooke Alderson made it two Regals in the top 20. She shot a 78 over the first 18 and improved with a 77 over the second. She was 13-over-par and totaled 155 strokes as she tied for 20th.
Also competing for the Regals were Ashley Zook, Kaylie Hesse, and Maya de la Rama. Zook tied for 22nd with 79-78-157 at 15-over-par, Hesse tied for 25th with 82-78-160 at 18-over-par, and de la Rama was tied for 27th with 82-81-163 at 21-over-par.
The teams continue with the Schreiner Shoot-out on March 4-5 and Comanche Trace Golf Course in Kerrville, Texas.
