THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's basketball had a tough loss as they fell to Occidental College 66-58 in the SCIAC Tournament Championship on Saturday night.
Alline Ballard went for 20 points and 10 rebounds for her 16th double-double of the year. She grabbed her 300th rebound this season and is just the fifth Regals in program history to eclipse 300.
Sara Mills was next with 10 points and Janna Holley had eight. The duo dished out nine assists with Mills having six and Holley having three. Kaiya Mack led the defense with five steals and Ballard had two blocks.
Grace Godines and Alexa Greenwood helped the Regals in crucial stretches with big shots. They both made three-pointers to make the crowd erupt in cheers.
Down 58-41 with 1:01 remaining in the third, Greenwood made back-to-back three-pointers to give the Regals life. The Regals battled back and cut the lead to three with 7:25 left but it was the closest they would get as the Tigers stole the game.
The Regals are 19-7 and their season depends on a committee and the NCAA Selection Show.
