MONTEREY PARK, Calif. — Cole Weiderman placed third in the 500 free to lead Cal Lutheran men's and women's swimming and diving on day two of the SCIAC Championships.
The Regals and Kingsmen remain in fifth halfway through the championships. The Regals have 164 points and the Kingsmen have 124.
Weiderman had the top finish of the day and took bronze in the 500 freestyle. He touched the wall at 4:30.17. His time moved him up to second on the program's top-10 list.
Madi Bodhidatta impressed in the 50 free as she moved up to second on the top-10 list. She clocked 23.52 and placed fifth at the meet. Breann Bracken also raced in the same event and placed fourth on the top-10 list and ninth at the meet with 24.14.
Alice Peterson and Kendall Moffitt both competed in the 500 free. Peterson placed ninth at the SCIAC Championships with 5:05.75. Moffitt moved up to third on the top-10 list with 5:06.17.
Lincoln Hall and Tori Portillo swam in the 200 IM. Hall's time of 1:53.84 was third on the top-10 list as he placed 15th. Portillo was 16th with 2:15.35.
The 200 free relay capped off the night. Bracken, Faith Timney, Moffitt, and Alana Tamura placed fifth for the Regals with 1:38.43. The Kingsmen placed eighth as Collin Spargur, Caelan Jack, Zane Hermann, and Evan Encell clocked 1:24.72.
The SCIAC Championships continue on Saturday with the women's three-meter dive, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, and the 400 medley relay.
