Box Score THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Cal Lutheran men's basketball secured a milestone 16th consecutive win, setting a new program record as it routed Caltech 68-38 on Saturday afternoon.
The Kingsmen (20-3, 13-1 SCIAC) held the Beavers (1-21, 0-13 SCIAC) to just 38 points to break the previous program record set by the 1993-94 team who won 15 straight games to start the season. With two games remaining, the Kingsmen hold sole possession of first place in SCIAC and are two games up on the second-place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Devon Lewis led the team in scoring with 14 points and Nick Attanasio was next with 13 points and a team-high five assists. Both of them shot over 50% as the Kingsmen went an efficient 27-55 (49.1%) from the field as a team.
The Kingsmen established their dominance from tip-off, scoring the first nine points of the game while keeping the Beavers off the scoreboard. Through 15 minutes, they led 29-7 and never looked back.
As the first half ended, the Kingsmen led 37-15, allowing the lowest point total from an opponent in a half this season.
The Kingsmen led by as many as 38 points at one point during the second half and cruised to the finish line to get the record-breaking victory.
