Regals Roll Past Redlands

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's volleyball got back on track on Saturday night, cruising to a 25-21, 25-13, 25-22 victory over University of Redlands.

The Regals put Friday night's three set defeat behind them, taking advantage of every opportunity they could to improve to 9-10 on the season and 4-6 in the SCIAC.
  
"I'm really proud of how our team bounced back after that loss on Friday night," said Head Coach Kellee Roesel. "Our defense, serving, and serve receive were solid against a good team that we knew we had to beat. Those things gave our middles and oppos more opportunities, which they took full advantage of".
 
Caitlin Murphy led the Regal's offense with a season high 13 kills, hitting .360 in the match. As a team, Cal Lutheran hit .198, holding a 42-30 advantage in kills and a 7-2 dominance in service aces. They spread the wealth with six different players earning at least one ace apiece.
 
Keegan Corley had one ace, along with three assists and a match-high 18 digs, while setters Tess Holbert and Makenna Kawamura combined for 35 assists, 17 digs, and two aces.

Cal Lutheran also posted 16 blocks with the help of Kira Mortensen who led with five. She also recorded nine kills on the night. Tarin Rueckert had four blocks, nine digs, and a pair of kills and service aces. First-year Kaylee Clayton also stood out in the match, swinging a career-high seven kills.

Next, the Regals hit the road to continue the second half of the SCIAC schedule. They will take on No. 13 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM.
 
Bushnell hits the road next weekend to close out the first half of the CCC schedule, taking on Evergreen State on Friday at 6:00 pm and Northwest on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
