Regals Drop Rematch with No. 21 Sagehens

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's soccer (10-2-4, 8-2 SCIAC) suffered just their second loss of the season on the road against No. 21 Pomona-Pitzer (12-1-2, 8-1-1 SCIAC) on Wednesday evening.

The match started with an early attempt on goal by Olivia Suarez, but the opposing goalkeeper made the save.

The Sagehens took the lead in the 7th minute, which set the tone for the game.

In the second half, Jessica Sprouse tried to even the score with a shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but her effort was also saved. Although the Regals had several chances to equalize, they were unable to convert.

Kira Kasarda, who played the full match as goalkeeper, allowed one goal early on but demonstrated her abilities with four saves throughout the remainder of the game.

Following this match, Cal Lutheran remains in second place in the SCIAC standings as they near the end of the regular season. With just two games left before the postseason begins, each match is vital.

Their next game is set for Saturday, October 26th when they travel to Whittier College for a 12:00 PM match up. The Regals aim to rebound against the Poets.
