ROUND ROCK, Texas — Ashley Escamilla scored twice and
Elisa Shott added one more as Cal Lutheran women's soccer defeated Concordia (Texas) for their second straight 3-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon.
The Regals defeated Willamette 3-0 on Sunday and did the same to the Tornadoes and have now outscored their three opponents 6-0 this year.
"I was very pleased with our second half," head coach
Frank Marino said. "It was quite a performance in 104-degree heat, and we found a way to win.
The Regals peppered the goal, getting off 22 shots with 10 on goal. They moved the ball around well as
Anna Evenson and
Alyssa Moran both recorded an assist.
The Regals shut out their third straight opponent.
Logan Duford was in goal, made two saves, and shut out her second opponent this season.
The defense continued to take care of business as
Lily Hatanaka,
Avery West,
Ally Fisicaro,
Madie Fahey,
Ellie Ruhoff,
Macey Peery, and
Brynn McMahon combined to keep the Tornadoes quiet.
All three goals came in the second half. Escamilla scored the first goal of the game in the 48
th minute. She helped the Regals double up the Tornadoes with a goal in the 53
rd minute. Shott put on the finishing touch as she made it 3-0 in the 78
th minute.
The Regals have won two straight games and look for a third straight win on Friday. They play Trinity (Texas) at Southwestern University for a neutral game at 4 p.m. PST.
