Regals Upset No. 9 Trinity (Tex.); Quiroz, Veljacic Score in 90th Minute

GEORGETOWN, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's soccer made its case for entering the top 25 rankings. The Regals upset No. 9 Trinity (Tex.) 2-0 on Friday afternoon after Eden Quiroz and Isabella Veljacic scored in the 90th minute.

The Regals faced their second ranked opponent this season and have yet to give up a goal in four contests. They tied No. 20 Pacific Lutheran to start the season.

"To play two playoff-level games in the first four games of the season and get two great results, our players should be very proud of their accomplishments," said head coach Frank Marino. In 106-degree heat playing the way we did says a lot about our team. Unbelievable composure from Quiroz to get us the goal. Amazing team effort from this incredible group."

Logan Duford was in goal and made six huge saves. She combined with Lily Hatanaka, Avery West, Ally Fisicaro, Savana Durr, Madie Fahey, and Brynn McMahon to shut out the Tigers.

The game was 0-0 for almost the entirety. The Regals shocked the Tigers with two goals in the 90th minute. Quiroz scored her first goal of the season with 23 seconds left in the game and Veljacic added a goal 14 seconds later.

The Regals improved to 3-0-1 on the season. They look to sweep their Texas opponents on Sunday. Cal Lutheran plays Southwestern (Texas) on Sunday at 10 a.m.
