PASADENA, Calif — No. 16 Cal Lutheran women's soccer continued its superb season recording their ninth straight win and ninth shutout, downing Caltech 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Regals improved to 9-0-1, 5-0 in conference. Next game, they can match the best start in program history.
"Every game in the SCIAC is crucial and I am proud we were able to get another win today," said head coach Frank Marino. "Great to see contributions from our whole team in the game."
Ashley Escamilla, Lily Hatanaka, and Sophia Saiki all scored as the Regals got two goals in the first half and one in the second.
The Regals jumped all over the Beavers, scoring early, as Escamilla scored her third goal of the season in the seventh minute. Savana Durr was credited with the assist. The Regals doubled up their opponent in the 30th minute and Hatanaka scored her first goal of the season. The Regals put the game on ice in the 65th minute as Saiki added her first goal of the season.
Cal Lutheran controlled yet another match, totaling 23 shots with 14 on goal. The defense allowed just one shot, which was on goal. Kelsey Slaugh started the game in goal, played the first half, and made the save. Brissa Garcia-Sandoval and Michelle Salas Viniegra saw action in the second half.
