CLAREMONT, Calif — Cal Lutheran men's and women's cross country continued its 2023 campaign and competed at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday morning. 

"The Kingsmen and Regals competed well today on a tough course in warm conditions," said head coach Brett Halvaks. "This invite was a great learning experience. We look forward to using the next three weeks to train and get sharp for SCIAC Champs."

Eric Talbert was the first Kingsmen to cross the finish line. He placed 41st with a time of 26 minutes and 29.4 seconds. He tied for the fifth fastest time for the course in program history.

Joseph Roberts and George Gaitanis made it three Kingsmen in the top 100. Roberts was 72nd as he clocked a time of 27:24.9. It is the 13th fastest time for the course. Gaitanis was 83rd with 29:42.1. 

Max Segeberg, Joe Lopez Vasquez, and Ian Skrinde also raced for the Kingsmen. The team placed 13th with 328 points. Segeberg was 135th with 30:33.5, Vasquez was 142nd with 33:45.2, and Skrinde was 144th with 36:46.4. Skrinde's time was a course personal best. 

Brooke Hougo was the top Regal on the women's side. She clocked a time of 25:54.0 and placed 73rd. Hougo's time was a course personal best. Tianna Karr was next and placed 116th with 31:14.8. 

Also competing for the team were Isabela Garcia-Work, Dinkenesh Coltvet, and Kendall Fleming. The team finished in 11th place with 336 points. Garcia-Work was 117th with 31:46.1, Coltvet was 118th with 32:55.1, and Fleming was 120th with 33:34.6. Garcia-Work's time was a lifetime personal best.

The Kingsmen and Regals wrapped up their regular season and will turn their attention to the SCIAC Championships. The championships are on Saturday, October 28th.
