PASADENA, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's water polo was on the road and defeated Caltech 18-6 on Saturday afternoon.
The Kingsmen started strong and scored four of the first five goals. They carried that momentum through the quarter and scored with one second left and a 6-2 advantage. The Kingsmen kept the goals coming and outscored the Beavers 8-2 in the second and held a 14-4 lead at the break. Cal Lutheran continued to cruise through the second half and won the game.
Luke Matthies led the way and scored six goals.
Lincoln Hall added three goals, Nick Carreon and
Kayden Sourbeer had two goals. Four more Kingsmen scored a goal.
The Kingsmen moved the ball around well and assisted 15 times on the 18 goals.
Ethan Guereca put his team in good situations with three drawn exclusions.
Bo Dubois and
Daniel Johnson split time in goal. DuBois had five saves and Johnson recorded two. Sourbeer led the defense with three steals.
The Kingsmen (7-14, 4-5 SCIAC) continue the season tomorrow and are at Pepperdine at 4 p.m.
