(CLAREMONT, Calif — Sept. 14, 2023) Cal Lutheran women's volleyball battled Pomona-Pitzer for the second match in a row but ultimately fell to the Sagehens 3-0 on Friday night.
The first set was highlighted by
Sadie Peete's three kills, a game in which she led the team with eight kills and ten digs. However, the Regals lost the first set by a score of 25-16.
Kira Mortenson joined Peete's hot hand in the second set when they both notched four kills. Mortenson ended the match with seven kills and a team-high 9.5 points, but the team fell short again in the second set by a score of 25-19.
The Sagehens capitalized on their momentum and took the third set by a score of 25-15.
Tess Holbert continued to be a helping hand as she led the way with 18 assists, making it her thirty-eight consecutive matches with at least ten assists, a streak that dates back to Sept. 16, 2022.
Holbert and
Caitlin Murphy each registered four and five kills, respectively, while
Amy Buffini led the team with 14 digs.
The Regals will be back on the road for their next matchup when they play at Whitter on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
