Avery West acted as the lone goal for Cal Lutheran women's soccer as they fought No. 19 ranked Pomona-Pitzer to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night

With the tie, both teams remain at the top of the SCIAC leaderboard. The quest for a SCIAC Championship comes down to four games.
The Sagehens started off the game fast, with clean ball movement and multiple zone entries. In the 22nd minute, Pomona opened up the scoring with a penalty kick of their own after drawing a handball in the box.
With just one minute remaining before the first half ended, the Regals drew a handball in their box; a mirror image of the play that allowed Pomona to score. West took the penalty kick and buried it to even the score at 1-1 going into the second half.
The Regals had a chance to take the lead late after
Brynn McMahon drew a foul resulting in their second penalty kick of the night, but it would be saved by the Sagehen's keeper. Both teams played a physical game, as they committed 11 fouls each. Additionally, six yellow cards were given out over the course of the match, with five of them coming in the second half.
The defense was a key contributor for the Regals in the contest, with 90-minute efforts coming from
Adriana Maroney and
Savana Durr.
Logan Duford was in goal and made three saves.
With the result, both teams remain undefeated, as Cal Lutheran moves to 10-0-3 (6-0-2) while Pomona-Pitzer moves to 10-0-2 (6-0-2). The Regals will continue their season at home on Sunday, October 15th against UC Santa Cruz at 11 a.m.
