REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands David Menary scored 20 points and Kyle Husslein added 15 more as the Bulldogs defeated the Kingsmen 72-65 Saturday inside Currier Gym.

Kyle Ferreira scored a double-double for Cal Lutheran as he had 23 points and pulled down 12 boards for the Kingsmen. KJ Moffett was close behind Ferreira as he scored 18 points and had seven rebounds.  

Redlands (7-17, 5-10 SCIAC) shot 74-percent from the free throw line and 36-percent from the field. As a team, the Bulldogs tallied 50 rebounds, 11 assists and five steals.

Redlands was hot right from the start and took an 18-12 lead. The Kingsmen bounced back and cut the deficit to two points after a jump shot and two free throws made by Ferreira. The Bulldogs kept the offense going as they led Cal Lutheran, 37-30 at halftime.

Six minutes into the second half, the Kingsmen found themselves trailing to Redlands 51-38 as the Bulldogs continued to have a hot-shooting day. One minute left in the game and Cal Lutheran was down by five. Palmer Chaplin made a huge three-pointer to bring the Kingsmen within two points with thirty seconds left. Unfortunately the Bulldogs were sent to the line twice and knocked down each free throws, resulting in Redlands walking away with the 72-65 victory over the Kingsmen.

Cal Lutheran (8-15, 5-10 SCIAC) will host the La Verne Leopards on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the final season game.
