Regals Shutout Beavers 7-0

Box Score

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran women's soccer team scored seven goals as the Reagls shutout the Caltech Beavers Monday night under the lights at William Rolland Stadium in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

The Regals got on the board early and kept the offensive fire power going throughout the first half. Kali Youngdahl scored the first goal of the game in the fourth minute. It was her sixth goal of the season.

Sam Cornejo doubled up the Beavers two minutes later as she received a pass from Youngdahl and put the ball past Caltech's goalkeeper. Youngdahl made it 3-0 in the 10th minute with an unassisted goal.

The Caltech defense then picked up the pace and kept the Regals quiet for the next 25 minutes. Bri Pinal got the Regals back on track and scored her third goal of the year in the 35th minute with the assist from Olivia Leyva. Freshman Abby McHugh scored the first goal of her collegiate career in the 41st minute and the Regals had a 5-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, Emily Williams scored her first goal of the season, off a rebound, as the Regals went up 6-0. Alexandra Albaeck scored her second goal of the season in the 81st minute as the Regals increased their lead to 7-0. That was all the Regals would score as the game ended 7-0.

A lot of Regals gained experience as the Violet and Gold used 27 different players in the game.

Alysa Frazier was in the goal during the first half. Britain Chaputa took over and played the first part of the second half and Frankie Allegra played the rest. The trio, combined with the Regals defense, recorded the shutout. The Cal Lutheran defense made its mark on the game as Jackie Albers, Tessa Dwyer, Alexandra Fagerberg, Leyva, Sarah Wardle and Katie Weaver only allowed one shot on goal.

Up next for the Cal Lutheran is Occidental. The Regals hosts the Tigers Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Rolland Stadium in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
