REDLANDS, Calif. - The No. 4 Cal Lutheran women's volleyball team won its second Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) matchup of the season in a four-set, 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-12, 25-18) victory against the Redlands Bulldogs on Tuesday night inside Currier Gym.

The Regals got off to an early start in the first set, going up by three before the Bulldogs scored, and they were able to keep the lead throughout the set. Amanda Roberts had a strong four-point run beginning with a kill to put the score at 12-7, then served up the next three points for the Regals making the score 15-7. The Bulldogs could not make up the points needed and CLU came away with the set.

The second set proved to be much closer than the first and the Bulldogs did not plan on rolling over. Redlands kept the lead the entire set with the biggest lead of six putting the score at 14-8. After a much needed timeout, the Regals put up five points to close the gap. Redlands, however, would not let up just as CLU got closer towards the end the Bulldogs pulled away with a 25-22 win.

In the third set, the Regals went down a point and began trading points with Redlands until Hope Stewart stepped up to serve. Cal Lutheran put up eight points and held a 10 point lead on the Bulldogs, 16-6, to solidify its lead and ultimately the set. The point deficit was too much for Redlands to handle and the Regals sailed to a 13-point win, 25-12.

In the fourth and final set, the Regals took an early led and continued to add to it throughout the set. Nine Regals contributed to the end result of a CLU win at 25-18.

A trio of Regals in Stewart, Sarah Pappas and Michelle Lawrence all had a double-digit day in the kill column. Stewart had a massive scoring day for the Regals and put up 18 kills, four service aces and nine digs. Pappas put up 14 kills while Lawrence had a double-double with 10 kills and 18 digs. Roberts and Monica Lundgren had six and five kills, respectively. Jamie Smith finished with 47 assists for the Regals offensive round up, her highest of the season. Amy McKee also had three kills and one dig in her second career match for CLU.

The Regals will continue conference play when they host Chapman this Friday, Sept. 23 at 7:00 p.m. inside Gilbert Arena.
