THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - After nearly two weeks away from competition, the Cal Lutheran women's tennis team took to the courts on Friday where they fell 6-3 to NAIA No. 8 Arizona Christian at Poulson Tennis Center.
The Regals took an early 2-1 lead after a strong start to the match in the doubles competition. Annette Sousa and Shelby Kubota took care of business at No. 3 with an 8-1 victory while Sarah Seeman and Rebecca Gold pulled out a 9-8 (8-6) victory after battling into a tiebreaker at No. 2.
Despite forcing three of six singles matches to a third set, the Regals would drop five-out-of-six matches to the Firestorm, who pulled off the come from behind victory.
Cal Lutheran (3-2) will turn right around and take on Christopher Newport (Va.) at tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at home.
