THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The No. 7 Cal Lutheran women's volleyball team faced the Caltech Beavers for the second time in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Tuesday night and came away with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-9) sweep inside Gilbert Arena.

The Regals swiftly took the first set 25-13. Amanda Roberts and Dianna Rohrer led the scoring points with four kills and four points apiece. CLU had two four-point scoring runs within the set with Nicki Tetherow and Hope Stewart behind the back line. The Beavers, meanwhile, capitalized on six Regals errors to account for nearly half of their points. The Violet and Gold were able to overcome the early mistakes and pulled out the win.

The Beavers took the first point again in the second set but this did not faze the Regals. Caltech kept pushing back and tied the game three times and took the lead at 7-6. CLU was able to go on a five-point scoring run putting the score 11-7. The Regals then put up another seven points in a row to make the score 18-8. The Beavers came back and scored 10 points but not before the Regals got to 25, to take the set 25-18.

The third and final set was controlled by the Regals the whole time. They started off with the first point and took the last one for the win. The Beavers could only score nine points on the CLU defense. Carly Rose Howard helped put six straight points across the board while serving, including back-to-back aces. Rohrer slammed the final point onto the court from an assists by Steph Rolfson and CLU took the set 25-9.

Rohrer led the team in kills with eight, while Monica Lundgren had seven kills of her own. Amanda Roberts had the same number of kills as digs at six. Hope Stewart grabbed five kills and five digs and Sarah Pappas followed with three kills and one block. Charlie Furey and Hannah Nua had two kills apiece, Furey also had five blocks, two solo blocks and three block assists. Jamie Smith and Rolfson just about split assists at 15 and 13, respectively. The Regals had a total of 14 service aces from eight different Regals, the highest of the season. Stewart, Roberts, Smith and Amy McKee each had one ace, Dani Gonzalez and Howard had two apiece and Tetherow and Molly Holloway each had three.

Cal Lutheran (15-4, 6-2 SCIAC) will travel to Whittier to continue the second half of SCIAC play to face the Poets this Friday, Oct. 14 at 7:00 p.m.
