CLAREMONT, Calif. - Tonight at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the 2015 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Postseason Women's Soccer Tournament kicked off with one of two semifinal games. A battle between Cal Lutheran and the Athenas went in favor of the Regals who edged out a 2-1 victory at Pritzlaff Field on Thursday night.

Nikole Prelooker gave the Violet and Gold a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute, but less than a minute later CMS reciprocated when Darrah Shields found the back of the net with the equalizer.

After the intermission, senior Raquel Weckhurst punched in her 13th goal of the season, giving the visiting team a 2-1 advantage.

The Regals would hold on for the remainder of the contest and advance to their third consecutive SCIAC Postseason Tournament championship game.

It was a fairly even contest throughout and CMS finished with a 13-12 edge over CLU in shots and held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks. Weckhurst led the Regals with five shots, including four on goal, and Bianca Deardorff was second on the team with three. Olivia Leyva, Kali Youngdahl, Alex Albaeck and Prelooker tallied the other shots for the Violet and Gold. Coral Hasley finished with seven total saves in the match.

In the other semifinal game, fourth-seeded Pomona-Pitzer upset top-seeded Redlands 1-0 to advance to the final. With CLU being the highest seeded team remaining, the SCIAC PST Championship game will be held this Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7:00 p.m. inside Rolland Stadium. The winning team will earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament that is scheduled to start on Nov. 14 at sites yet to be determined. The NCAA Division III National Championships will be held in Kansas City, Mo. on Dec. 4-5.

Tickets and t-shirts will be sold at the entrance to Rolland Stadium. Children under the age of 12, current students, faculty and staff with ID receive free admittance. Admission for all others is $5 per day. T-shirts are priced at $15 (short sleeves) and $20 (long sleeves).
