RIVERSIDE, Calif. - In the final non-conference tournament of the fall, the Cal Lutheran men's water polo team was challenged by a pair of tough teams at the Cal Baptist Invitational, falling 17-9 and 19-6 to Fresno Pacific and the host Lancers, respectively, today.
FPU def. CLU 15-7:
The day opened with a hat-trick from Zack Card and a pair of goals from Chris Gardhouse. None of the seven CLU goals had assists today. Jack Acampora drew three ejections while Camron Hauer earned two. Defensively, Nick Loomis recorded 13 saves and five different players recorded a steal.
CBU def. CLU 19-6:
In the non-conference finale, CLU faltered to host CBU with six Kingsmen scoring a goal apiece. The Violet and Gold were unable to find the back of the net in the first eight minutes, but responded with four goals in the second stanza. The deficit was too large to overcome, however. Loomis had 12 more saves in the nightcap. Hauer and Shea Craig each nabbed three steals and George French and Matt Fong both recoded a field block. Gardhouse chipped in with two more drawn ejections
