Box Score $website.include("options")

LA VERNE, Calif. - On a night when the Cal Lutheran women's soccer team knew that it had to win to get into the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Postseason Tournament, the Regals took the field at La Verne and left it all on the field, earning a 2-1 win to place among the top four in the conference standings to live to play another day.

Entering the evening, CLU sat in a fourth place tie with Whittier. Based on the point system that is in place for the SCIAC standings, the Cal Lutheran win coupled with ties by both Pomona-Pitzer and Whittier, allowed the Regals to jump into third in the standings.

Offensive Highlights: Cal Lutheran took an early 1-0 lead on a Bianca Deardorff goal from an assist by Raquel Weckhurst. After the intermission, the Regals added to the tally when Weckhurst added a second assist, getting the ball to Jordan Miller for her first collegiate goal, which accounted for the ultimate game-winner. The Violet and Gold fired off nine shots with a pair from Brittany Eremita as the only CLU player with more than one attempt and overall five of the nine were on target. Deardorff scored on her only attempt as did Miller.

Defensive Highlights: Senior Mallory Carcich and Julia Kearns were each on the field for all 90 minutes, joining goalie Coral Hasley who finished with three saves in the complete game.

The Opponent: The Leopards cut the CLU lead in half at the 68:47 mark, but that was the lone Leos goal of the game. LV held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks and took just seven shots.

Notables: The Violet and Gold advance to the SCIAC PST for the 10th consecutive season. CLU will look to make it a third SCIAC PST title in 2015.

Next Up: Cal Lutheran (8-8-2, 7-5-2 SCIAC) enters the SCIAC Postseason Tournament as the third seed and will travel to second seeded CMS on Thursday, Nov. 5 at a time yet to be determined. SCIAC Champion and top-seeded Redlands will host fourth seeded Pomona-Pitzer also on Thursday, Nov. 5. The two winning teams will play for the SCIAC PST title on Saturday, Nov. 7.
