ORANGE, Calif. - The Cal Lutheran women's soccer team won consecutive games for the first time this season after a 2-0 victory over Chapman in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) matchup on Saturday night at Wilson Field.
Offensive Highlights: After a scoreless first half, Raquel Weckhurst put the Regals on the board in the 64th minute with her 11th goal of the year. The senior forward has now scored in three straight games, as well as five of the last six, and leads the SCIAC with 10 goals during conference play.
Last season's leading scorer for CLU, Kali Youngdahl, added an insurance goal in the 78th minute off an assist from Weckhurst and has now scored in back-to-back games.
Weckhurst led the Violet and Gold with four shots in the match while Youngdahl and Bianca Deardorff added two. Five other Regals fired off a shot and CLU outshot the Panthers 13-11 but Chapman held an edge 7-6 on corner kicks.
Defensive Highlights: Goalkeeper Coral Hasley tallied five saves in all 90 minutes of action to earn her second shutout of the season.
The Opponent: Lindsay Erl led the Panthers with four shots in the game and Julia Diaz totaled two. Goalkeeper Kristin Kleinow finished with six saves in front of the net.
Next Up: Cal Lutheran (5-6-1, 4-3-1 SCIAC) will return home to Rolland Stadium for a matchup against Redlands this Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 7:00 p.m.
