PASADENA, Calif. - Announced on Tuesday by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Cal Lutheran men's basketball player Coltrane Powdrill was selected as the Male Athlete of the Week for his accomplishments between Jan. 5-11. The selection represented his first league honor of the season as he becomes the third Kingsmen student-athlete selected this academic year.

Last week hepoured in a total of 37 points with 17 rebounds, seven assists and five blocks while leading the Kingsmen in two more SCIAC victories to begin conference play 3-0.

The senior forward had an efficient week shooting 60 percent (9-for-15) from the field and 91 percent (19-for-21) from the free-throw line in wins against Redlands and Pomona-Pitzer and flirted with double-doubles in both games.

Against the Bulldogs on Jan. 6, Powdrill had 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks. He went 6-for-8 from the field and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the line. In a seven-point win over the Sagehens on Jan. 10, the Reseda, Calif. native had 18 points and nine rebounds and went 12-for-14 from the charity stripe including key free-throws down the stretch to secure the victory.

Also earing SCIAC AOW honors from Cal Lutheran this year on the men's side have been soccer player Zack Larson who earned recognition (Oct. 13-19) and swimmer Ore Wahnishe (Dec. 1-7). Additionally, junior volleyball player Allie Eason,who was the first overall honoree of the year (Aug. 29-Sept. 7) and followed with a second selection (Nov. 3-9) is a two-time winner and Kali Youngdahl, a freshman on the women's soccer team (Sept. 29- Oct. 5) earned her first league honor in the fall as well.

Cal Lutheran (9-2, 3-0 SCIAC) looks to remain undefeated in league play while reaching double figure victories tonight in a road contest at Caltech.
