PASADENA, Calif. - Tonight on the road the No. 2 Cal Lutheran volleyball team blew by the Caltech Beavers in another 3-0 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) sweep, winning 25-10, 25-12, 25-12.
All 18 dressed team members stepped on the court tonight and with a lot of contributors, 11 different Regals had at least one kill and 12 recorded at least one dig.
Leading the way for the Violet and Gold were Hannah Nua and Hope Stewart with seven kills apiece while Sarah Pappas put down six and Hannah Orlandi and Pua Mo'okini-Oliveira notched five kills apiece. Monica Lundgren tallied three kills and Carlee Wood chipped in with two as did Allie Eason and Dianna Rohrer. Doing the majority of the setting, Jamie Smith recorded 23 assists and she added a kill. Jena Chavez put up seven assists and Kennedy Peters also had a pair.
At the service line the Regals were lights out with eight aces. A trio of those came from libero Nicki Tetherow and both Molly Holloway and Stewart finished with two. Mikayla Dobson was responsible for the final service ace of the match.
Defensively, Stewart and Tetherow finished with nine and eight digs, respectively, and Nua finished with four. The two solo blocks came from Hollowayand Lundgren. Additionally, Lundgren and Carson Nicodemus combined for a block as well.
Both Dani Gonzales and Lindsey Kuramoto saw action tonight as well.
Caltech fell to 0-11, 0-6 SCIAC with the loss. Catherine Jamshidi had eight of the 16 total CIT kills tonight and she added two service aces and a solo block.
Cal Lutheran (17-1, 6-0) returns to the Gilbert Arena tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 4, for a match-up with La Verne at 6:00 p.m.
