THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - For the eighth time in nine games the Cal Lutheran women's soccer team has returned home victorious as the Regals stretched their unbeaten streak to 11 with a 2-0 win over Whittier at the Graham Soccer Field on the road this morning in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action.

CLU controlled all facets of the game against a Poets team that is currently winless in league play. The Violet and Gold outshot the host squad 18-3 and earned four corner kicks, three in the opening half, to three for Whittier.

After peppering the WC goal early, the first breakthrough came in the 40th minute when Kelly Morro lifted a through ball to Nancy Nunez who punched it into the right corner of the cage for the ultimate game winner. The assist was Morro's first of the season.

Late in the game, CLU struck again when Katelyn Kimball scored on a pass from Bianca Deardorff at the top of the box to double the advantage in the 88th minute.

The goals were the second of the year for both Kimball and Nunez.

Today 21 Regals stepped onto the pitch and the shots came from a plethora of players with nine on target. Sierra Duarte finished with a game-high three while Deardorff, Kirsten Bergseth, Heidi Ferkranus and Bri Pinal each fired off a pair.

Defensively, Kiki Bailey turned away both shots on goal that she faced today while the defensive unit of Ferkranus, Shelbie Blevins, Yahaira Hernandez, Julia Kearns, Olivia Leyva and Jenna Malinowski combined for the shutout.

Whittier (1-13-1, 0-10 SCIAC) goalie Caitlyn Schrepfer recorded seven saves with three in the first half and four in the final frame. The three WC shots came from a trio of different Poets.

Cal Lutheran (11-4-3, 8-2-2) will return to William Rolland Stadium for the final two games of the regular season, beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7:00 p.m. when the Regals host Occidental.
