CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Cal Lutheran women's soccer team allowed a late second half goal from Pomona-Pitzer to force overtime and eventually held on for a 1-1 draw after double-overtime on Wednesday night.

The tie marks the end of a seven game winning streak for the Violet and Gold but the Regals have gone 8-0-2 to remain undefeated in their last ten games.

In the opening minutes of the game, Katie Moyer dribbled the ball up from the midfield and passed a through ball to the right side. Bianca Deardorff fielded the ball just inside the right edge of the box and fired a shot to the far post for the goal. The goal gave the Regals a 1-0 advantage in just the seventh minute of the game, and marks the third straight contest that CLU has scored within the first seven minutes.

Moyer and Deardorff kept the pressure on the Sagehens defense as they each rifled off a couple more shots in the first half.

In the 82nd minute, Pomona-Pitzer was able to tie the game with a goal by Abby Onderwyzer-Gold from 15-yards out. CLU had another opportunity with a corner kick in the 87th minute but could not capitalize, meanwhile Onderwyzer-Gold fired a shot in the 90th minute for the Sagehens but goalie Kiki Bailey made the save and sent the game in to overtime.

A key moment came in the second overtime with just five minutes remaining in the game. The Sagehens had possession of the ball and Amanda Coba took a shot that Bailey just did get a piece off to prevent a sure goal. The ball slowly rolled out in front of an open goal and Mallory Carcich was able to clear it before Pomona-Pitzer could get to it. The Regals survived two more shots from Onderwyzer-Gold in the waning minutes to hold on for the tie.

The Sagehens held the advantage over the Regals in shots, 19-13, and shots on goal, 8-4, while the Regals generated more opportunities with five corner kicks compared to just two for Pomona-Pitzer.

Deardorff led the Violet and Gold with five shots in the game including two on goal. Nicole Campbell added three and Sierra Duarte came up with two. Bailey finished with seven saves to preserve the draw.

Cal Lutheran (10-4-3, 7-2-2) will remain on the road this Friday, Oct. 25 when they take on Whittier at 11:00 a.m.
