THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., - After facing two top ten teams in Division III and the No. 9 NAIA ranked team in a span of six days, Cal Lutheran remained in the top 10, checking in at No. 8 in this week's AVCA National Top 25 poll.

CLU faced NAIA No. 9 Westmont this past Tuesday and then traveled to San Antonio, Texas where they took on No. 6 Emory (Ga.), former No. 1 Christopher-Newport (VA). The Regals went 2-2 in the tournament with a win over Concordia (Tex.) and also sweeping Southwestern (Tex.) 3-0, who enters this week's poll at No. 25.

The new number one in Division III volleyball is Washington-St. Louis after they pushed their record to 13-1 over the weekend. They are followed by Calvin, Wittenberg, Hope and Christopher-Newport to round out the top five.

Christopher-Newport managed to stay one spot ahead of Emory despite losing to the Eagles in their match up in the Trinity University Tournament.

Cal Lutheran remains the lone SCIAC representative in the polls after former No. 23 Occidental dropped out after falling to Chapman. Both Occidental and Chapman are now receiving votes in this week's poll.

Cal Lutheran now turns their attention towards their third-straight SCIAC conference championship. The Regals open SCIAC league play with La Verne Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m., and then face Pomona-Pitzer Friday, Sept. 21, before facing their 2011 SCIAC Championship opponent, Occidental, Saturday Sept. 22 in Eagle Rock at 6:00 p.m.

Each week the AVCA Top 25 is voted on by a panel of DIII coaches around the country.
