REDLANDS, Calif. - Despite a goal in the second minute by Redlands, Cal Lutheran scored the equalizer just two minutes later and would get the game-winner from Taylor Will in the 62nd minute to win at Redlands, 2-1.
Redlands got off to an advantageous start with Savannah Laursen scoring with a shot across the net, putting the Bulldogs up 1-0.
The Regals wouldn't let the goal keep them down for long as they quickly answered with Maya Virgen's shot going past the drawn out Redlands goalkeeper to tie the match 1-1.
After numerous chances in the first half, CLU finally got the go-ahead goal from 2011 SCIAC Newcomer of the year, Taylor Will in the 62nd minute. Will received a pass in and hit shot from just inside the box that hit the upper-left corner of the goal and put the Regals up for good, 2-1.
Cal Lutheran and Redlands were neck and neck in shots, with CLU taking one more shot, 16 to 15.
Kristin Bailey saw her three-game shutout streak end but performed well and made two saves on the day to lead the Regals.
It was the second goal of the year for both Virgen and Will. Melissa Abdelkerim also finished with three shots.
With the win the Regals improve to 2-0 in the SCIAC and 5-1 overall. The Regals return to action next when they travel Claremont, Calif., to tangle with Pomona-Pitzer at 4 p.m.
