CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Cal Lutheran men's water polo team moved back into the win column today on the road as the Kingsmen defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 15-11 in league play.
CLU opened a 3-2 first quarter lead and never looked back, leading 8-5 at the intermission and outscoring the Stags seven to six in the final half.
Senior Dejan Novakovic recorded his third six-goal game of the season in the win. Also earning a hat-trick was Hunter Hamaker who scored three times. Both Carter Baldwin and Spencer McGrath netted a pair while AJ Franklin and Kyle Norheim found the back of the net as well.
Franklin would go on to add a couple of assists and Mike Potter finished with two assists as well. Nathan Ortega not only gave the Kingsmen three man-up situations with three drawn ejections, but he added a game-high four steals.
Danny Mock finished the game with three steals, adding 14 saves as the CLU goalie throughout the contest.
Cal Lutheran (11-11, 2-3 SCIAC) will be back at the Samuelson Aquatics Center on Wednesday, Oct. 24 to host the Caltech Beavers at 4:00 p.m.
