THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The Cal Lutheran men's water polo team extended its season long win streak to four matches following a 10-3 home victory over Whittier on Wednesday afternoon. The Kingsmen defense held the Poets scoreless for over 21 minutes while scoring six unanswered goals.

Box Score: CLU 10, WC 3 - F

Brandon Gross led all players with four goals including a pair of first quarter scores as the Kingsmen built a 4-1 lead at the end of one frame. After the Poets converted a man-advantage scoring chance to pull within two goals early in the second quarter they were held to only one goal the rest of the way.

Whittier's three goals came by way of a first quarter penalty shot, a second quarter player-advantage opportunity, and an unexpected attempt from seven meters in the final minutes of regulation.

During Cal Lutheran's lengthy 6-0 scoring run Dejan Novakovic contributed two goals and a pair of steals. The team has allowed a SCIAC-low 21 goals in four conference games courtesy of a strong defensive unit featuring the CLU newcomer.

Cal Lutheran defenders took down eight of Whittier's shot attempts with field blocks. Ten of the 13 that did get through and were on target were stopped by Kingsmen goalkeeper Danny Mock.

The Kingsmen have won three straight SCIAC contests and will play their final home game of the season on Saturday, Oct. 29, against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
