Carlie James

Carlie James became the assistant soccer coach at Cal Lutheran in 2024.  Carlie also serves as the Graphic Designer in the Marketing and Communications Department at Cal Lutheran which she has done since 2022.  She is responsible for producing all creative visual digital assets related to the Athletic Department and all 22 sports teams in need of print, digital, environmental, signage, merchandise, gear and equipment.   
 
Carlie graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Jose State University in 2020 majoring in Design Studies with a minor in Communications.  For four years Carlie played soccer for SJSU in the NCAA Division 1 Mountain West Conference earning Most Inspirational Player, Team Captain, Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar, and Academic All Mountain West Team.  She also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.  Embedded in Carlie's personal ethos is "Kaizen", meaning continuous improvement in all aspects of soccer and life.  
 
Carlie grew up in Calabasas and was soccer captain all four years at Calabasas High School earning all manner of conference awards.  Carlie played for the Eagles Soccer Club for over 15 years.
 
At eight months old, Wendy and Andy James adopted Carlie from Siberia, Russia.  They also adopted her older sister Ellie from Romania.  Carlie is forever grateful for her family, and it shows in her positive energy and thankful outlook.  Carlie is so proud saying "They picked me!"
