Alec Iniguez joined the Cal Lutheran baseball program as an assistant coach in June 2019. He serves as the Kingsmen’s baserunning coordinator, outfield and first base coach, while also assisting with recruiting and hitting development.
Iniguez began his coaching career at Grace Brethren High School in Simi Valley, California, during the 2018–19 season. While with the Lancers, he helped guide the program to a playoff appearance and contributed to a Junior Varsity league championship.
A 2018 graduate of California Lutheran University, Iniguez earned his degree in Communications while competing for two seasons with the Kingsmen baseball team. He was a member of Cal Lutheran’s historic 2017 squad that captured the program’s first NCAA National Championship. During his senior season in 2018, he finished second on the team in hits (40) and posted a .387 on-base percentage.
Since joining the coaching staff, Iniguez has worked closely with a number of accomplished outfielders, including Austin Carrillo (First Team All-SCIAC, 2021), Ryan Probst (First Team All-SCIAC, 2019), Daniel Parr (First Team All-SCIAC, 2019), and Lucas Danielewicz (First Team All-SCIAC, 2025; ABCA All-West Region Second Team, 2025; D3baseball.com All-West Third Team, 2025).
In the summer of 2022, Iniguez accepted his first head coaching position as manager of the Canyon County Spuds, a collegiate summer baseball team in the Independence League based in Caldwell, Idaho. He led the Spuds to the first winning season in franchise history, finishing 28–26 and placing second in the division. Under his leadership, Tyler Stone (Gonzaga University) led the league in home runs (11) and RBIs (64), while Clay Rickerman (California Lutheran) earned league honors as the ERA champion (2.72). The Spuds also placed five hitters among the league’s top 15 in batting average, three pitchers in the top five in ERA, and finished with a league-best team ERA of 3.95.
A native of San Jose, California, Iniguez graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory in 2014. He began his collegiate playing career at Ohlone College (2015–16), where he was part of a Coast-South Conference Championship team in 2015 and helped the program advance to a Super Regional appearance.
Iniguez resides in Thousand Oaks, California, and currently serves as a Physical Education teacher for the Conejo Valley Unified School District.
