The California Lutheran University Scholar-Athlete Society was formed in 2003 by the Alumni Relations office. Its purpose is to recognize deserving student-athletes for their performance in the classroom. To qualify, a student-athlete must achieve at least a 3.4 undergraduate institutional GPA while participating on an athletic team at Cal Lutheran.
During the 2020-21 school year, a total of 231 CLU student-athletes representing all 22 varsity programs were inducted into the Scholar-Athlete Society. Zach Hardman and Elyse Koe were selected as the SCIAC Scholar-Athletes of the Year at Cal Lutheran this year.
