Regals Shut Out Chapman for Seventh Straight Win; Have Allowed Just One Goal in Eight Games

ORANGE, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's soccer continued its hot start as they shut out Chapman for their seventh straight victory on Wednesday night.

Isabella Veljacic scored twice to lead the Regals past the Panthers 2-0. The Regals are 7-0-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The game was at Chapman and Cal Lutheran improved to 4-0 in road games.

"Another strong road win," said head coach Frank Marino. "I was happy to see how much better we played in the second half as we got the win. There were a lot of great contributors in this game."

The Regals continued their dominating ways as they had 14 shots compared to the Panthers one. Cal Lutheran put three on goal as Chapman had just one.

Logan Duford and the Regal defense continued to be impressive. Duford and the defense of Lily Hatanaka, Avery West, Ally Fisicaro, Savana Durr, Madie Fahey, and Brynn McMahon combined for another shutout, the seventh of the year. The Regals have only allowed one goal in 720 minutes.

It was a scoreless first half as the teams were tied going into the break. Veljacic scored to open the half, in the 47th minute, with the assist coming to West and Eden Quiroz. Veljacic added her second goal, doubling up the competition, in the 64th minute, with an assist from Anna Evenson.

The offense kept the shots coming and Veljacic and West led the team with three shots each. Caitlyn Winter and Quiroz had two shots each and Fisicaro, McMahon, Ryan Kaneko, and Hana Sawan each had one.
