Cal Lutheran junior Brett Halvaks of the men's cross
country and track and field teams was selected as a representative to
serve on the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
(SAAC). With the selection, Halvaks joined a committee of 24
student-athletes representing the 43 conferences and independent
institutions within Division III.

Under the guidance of
three different head coaches during the decade, the Kingsmen track and field
team has continued its storied success and has sent multiple representatives to
compete among the nation's best at the NCAA National Championships. The
all-decade team consists of five athletes who have earned individual SCIAC
titles and 16 who have made All-SCIAC with a top-six finish at the conference
finals.

Thrower Eric Flores of the Cal Lutheran men's
track and field team competed at the 2010 USA Outdoor Track and Field
Championships last weekend and finished ninth after setting a new personal
record in the hammer throw at 231 feet, 1 inch (70.44 meters). CLU throws coach
Lucais MacKay took 13th in the event at 221 feet, 9 inches (67.58 meters).

Toccoa Kahovec have been selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic
All-District VIII Team, announced earlier today.

The U.S. Track
& Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on
Thursday that Eric Flores of Cal Lutheran and Ellie Sitek of UW Oshkosh were
named the National Field Athletes of the Year for Outdoor Track & Field in
Division III as voted by the nation's coaches.

Cal Lutheran track and field team members Eric Flores and
Christa Youngern became United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association (USTFCCCA) All-Americans with their finishes at the National
Championship meet this past weekend. Flores won the hammer throw title while
Youngern earned runner-up in the hammer and eighth in the discus.

Christa Youngern wrapped up competition for Cal
Lutheran participants at the three-day 2010 NCAA Division III
Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday with an eighth place
finish in the discus for her second All-American finish of the meet. On Friday
Youngern and Eric Flores both took part in the shot put event and posted
qualifying marks that kept them out of the finals.

On the first day of the 2010 NCAA Division III
Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Cal Lutheran junior Eric Flores
claimed the national title in the men's hammer throw in dominant fashion with
an NCAA DIII championship record throw of 217 feet, 8 inches (66.25 meters) on
Thursday. In the women's hammer throw, senior Christa Youngern used a mark of
186 feet, 11 inches (56.99 meters) to finish as the national runner-up, less
than two feet shy of the first place throw.
