At the conclusion of each academic and athletic year the school with the most combined championships points in Division III is honored with the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup. In 2014-15 Cal Lutheran was one of eight SCIAC schools to appear in the final standings as announced on June 4.
In his final collegiate tournament, Cal Lutheran senior men’s tennis player Moises Cardenas notched his second straight All-America honor after advancing to the Quarterfinals at the 2015 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University and the Warren County Convention and Visitors Bureau this weekend.
Throughout the school year, much of the day-to-day focus is directed towards the successes of the Cal Lutheran athletics programs, but on Saturday morning, a group of 152 student-athletes, with their families and friends, gathered inside of the Gilbert Arena for the 12th CLU Scholar-Athlete Society Induction ceremony where academics were praised.
Playing at the most prestigious amateur tournament in the nation, Moises Cardenas advanced to the semifinals of the 115th Ojai Tournament played between April 23-26. Cal Lutheran was well represented with three in the Round of 16 and nine men donning the Violet and Gold.
