Nicho DellaValle has hit safely in 23 games this spring for the Kingsmen.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. –Third baseman Nicho DellaValle has been a force for Cal Lutheran all season. This week, the junior third baseman was recognized for his contributions on the diamond by being named to the Team of the Week.

DellaValle propelled the Kingsmen to a 3-0 weekend series sweep over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with a 9-for-13 (.692 average) showing at the plate. Of the nine hits, three were for extra bases with a pair of triples and a double. He also tallied six RBIs and scored five times for the Violet and Gold as CLU cruised past CMS 18-1 (7), 7-2 and 13-4 (7).

In game one of the series, the Solvang, Calif. native was a homerun shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Game two saw DellaValle notch the first of back-to-back three-hit games. During the series finale, he put the game out of reach with a three-run triple in the bottom of the third inning.

On Saturday he stretched his hit-streak to 10 games. He has hit safely in 22 games this spring and has at least one hit in every series. Currently, DellaValle holds a .434 overall batting average sand is slugging .575 with six doubles and five triples.

Defensively he was perfect at the hot corner with four assists against the Stags.

DellaValle becomes the first CLU player to be represented on the Team of the Week this spring.

Cal Lutheran (22-6-1) is currently ranked No. 7 in the latest American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Poll, which was released this morning.
